FOOD PORN

OK OK OK...So I know I announced that was going to bed at 11:45pm after I got some followup done and some emails sent etc after tonight event for The Art of Active Networking here in San Francisco. This is where things went South.

And please someone tell me they have done this so I don't feel so alone.

Many of you know I am a bit of a foodie, well tonight we had a nice spread of food here as always from Work of Art Catering one of our finest caterers who are so generous with me for these events. At these events I also really have no time to eat. I have 80 or more people in my space, greeting, catching up and meeting awesome people.

After it all quieted down tonight I was headed to bed early for a change promising myself to be in bed by midnight as I have a huge day tomorrow and am flying to Los Angeles at 11:15am. I REALLY WAS HEADED TO BED! HONEST!!!!

BUT THEN...

I walked past our commercial kitchen, I thought, "Damn I am hungry, I never ate and now it's 1am. I wonder if any food was left over?" Hmmmm....well I open the fridge and in it my staff had placed the left over Shepard's Pie that was served tonight. I put some on one of our compostable plates and stuck it in the warming oven, poured myself a glass of water, and hit start on the oven. This is where I totally went fridge diving. I'm bent over looking in the fridge thinking, "Well what might go good with reheated Shepard's pie?" The only thing that looked good were a left over jar of my Mom's amazing shredded sweet pickles with onions. And a tupperware container of leftover small toasted bread rounds that were served with another dish we served tonight.

So here I am at 1am trying to make a meal...Remember the TV Show McGuyver? He would save the world with a ball of twine a stick of gum and a rubberband? Well if he can save the world like that, I can certainly "McGuyver" together a late night meal right?

So here I am with my perfect meal of Shepard's Pie, (sort of hot), Joan Sackett's cold shredded sweet pickles and onions and some cold toast rounds and my perfect room temp filtered water.

And I'm still not in the damn bed! I had to write this down...LOL

As I am sitting here writing I am thinking of what some of my foodie friends might think of me? Does Tony Wilkins, sit in front of his fridge at 1am trying to piece together a meal? Does Mark Busse, even eat leftovers? Oh and would he consider this food journey as my first entry for Foodists.ca? Does Ron Berg even eat past 10pm? And will Matt Sackett appreciate the culinary journey I am just now finishing?

And you? Do any of you ever sit by the glow of the midnight fridge light dreaming up your own culinary adventures in the still of night?

Well I am full, satisfied, tired and fed!

Now I AM going to bed...I promise!
