HELL...WE’LL JUST WEIGH IN ON ANYTHING ANYMORE!
Is it the Internet that caused us to all be so entitled to an opinion about others? Is it the ease of sharing or liking something on Social Media that feed our entitlement? Or did we all just get that much smarter, experienced and all knowing that we have the right to weigh in on other peoples lives?
The reason I do "The Art of Active Networking" is to connect you to one and other through direct meetings so you can take your growing relationships, friendships, business relationships and partnerships in a myriad of directions. You can actually get to know about each other first hand and move to build powerful and sustainable relationships, all before you pass judgement, render an opinion or weigh in! But it seems these days that rather than showing up to make that effort with each other, we read a little news, click a few links and BAM we’re entitled to comment as we weigh in.
I saw no less than 8 opinion pieces today on Bruce Jenner and his very public interview on his life. Now journalists, opinion makers, style makers, religious leaders and others are barfing their opinions about how he did it, why he did it, if he should have done it and most of them admitted they have never met Bruce. Who cares let Bruce alone.
If you have not had direct experience with someone or their pain, struggle or issue and you are not offering something positive when you open your mouth, by hitting that keyboard or posting it, then maybe you should crawl back in bed and think before you spew!
If instead you know that person well, and they have asked you to weigh in or speak on their behalf then do it with truth, love and gusto! Otherwise your "opinion" is really not helping anyone.
So here’s an idea you can spread instead…
Come meet cool people, come help those people to do better with every fiber of you who are, and leave the gossip, conjecture, likes, hates or jokes to someone else. It looks terrible on you anyway. We're all about giving, raising each other up to do a little better in life, love and business and building a network of like minds around the world!
